TULSA, OK — From the early days of the pandemic that has now gripped the globe for more than a year, it was known by scientists that testing would play a critical role in containing the spread of the virus. This is just as true today, even as vaccines become more widely available and current trends in the United States show the rate of infection declining. A nationally funded local project called Rapid Results Tulsa is helping to make sure that testing is available to those who not only may need it most, but who may have a more difficult time getting tested.

Evelyn Whitworth is the founder and owner of Mobile Covid Testing LLC, the company that is providing the testing service for Rapid Results Tulsa. A registered nurse, Whitworth told La Semana that in her work with patients during the pandemic she became aware that many people were unable to get tested or to get their test results in a timely fashion.

“I’ve been working doing COVID testing since the beginning of the pandemic and during my time working I noticed that even though there were a lot of places that were doing testing, there were still some problems for people accessing tests and getting tested,” Whitworth explained. “Some people weren’t getting the right tests, and then some people were having to wait so long for test results that it was costing them a lot of money.
