2,370 Aficionados presenciaron la victoria de Arkansas 2-1 sobre BYU

Gran noche para Anna Podojil

Arkansas aprovechó el gran error de la defensa de BYU para ponerse arriba en el marcador en los primeros cuatro minutos del encuentro. A balón parado y en jugada de laboratorio, Anna Podojil anotaría el primer gol para las Jabalíes.

En el segundo tiempo y cuando mejor jugaba BYU, vendría un contragolpe de Arkansas. En combinación con Goins y Podojil llegaría el segundo gol de la tarde que le daría la victoria al equipo local por marcador de 2-0.

Payton Woodward, guardameta para la escuadra de Arkansas logró que familias Latinas tuvieran la oportunidad de asistir al juego de apertura en casa, regalando 9 boletos para la temporada. “El poder haber entrenado con equipos Latinos en Arkansas me ayudó a mejorar como jugadora, le recomiendo a la juventud que nunca se rinda y que luche por sus sueños. Mantenerse bien física y mentalmente es muy importante para que cuando el entrenador te de la oportunidad estés lista. Por último, que disfruten de vivir en Arkansas y todo lo que nuestra comunidad nos brinda, ya que es algo que muchos no saben, que aquí en Arkansas somos una gran familia.” Dijo Payton Woodward, guardameta de Arkansas.

“Para nosotros fue una gran noche, siempre ayuda tener el apoyo de la afición, las jugadoras lograron jugar y ejecutar el juego que teníamos planeado y jugaron con muchas ganas, y el resultado es merecido. Hemos arrancado con una serie de juegos muy difíciles y me atrevo a decir que nadie ha tenido rivales como a los que nos hemos enfrentado. Estos juegos nos prepararon mucho y al final de la temporada veremos los frutos. Estoy muy contento con el desempeño del equipo.” Dijo Colby Hale, director técnico de Arkansas.

El próximo juego de Arkansas será el 5 de septiembre a las 12p.m. ante su similar de Stephen F. Austin.

In front of 2,370 fans at the Razorback Field home opener, the Arkansas soccer team shutout No. 24 BYU, 2-0, behind Anna Podojil’s two-goal performance.

The Razorbacks (1-2-0) picked up their first win of the season and improved to 9-4-0 at home against ranked opponents since 2016. Arkansas has put together a 23-3-2 record at home since 2018.

In the fourth-minute, the Razorbacks were awarded an indirect free kick at the top of the six. Forward Parker Goins laid it off to Podojil who finished the ball through the BYU wall. The goal gave Arkansas a 1-0 lead early in the first half.

In the 54th-minute, Goins and Podojil linked up for a second goal after Goins played Podojil behind the BYU defensive line. The junior then tapped it around the Cougar defender and volleyed it over the goalie for her second goal of the game.

Payton Woodward, a goalkeeper for the Razorbacks donated 9 season tickets to Latno families that were in attendance during home opener game. “Being able to come and train with some of the Latino clubs and players it really helps me grow as a player and what they have given me, I want to give back. My advice to young players is that never give up, no matter what people tell you. Keep working hard and if you want to play at this level, work in the gym, on the field, do your part so when the coach gives you the opportunity, you are ready.” Concluded Payton Woodward.

“It was a good night; the crowd was amazing! The players executed the game plan and played hard. It was a well-deserved result. No one has played the schedule to open up the season we have. We are tested and we know it will pay dividends in the end. I’m very proud of the team.” said Arkansas Coach Colby Hale

Arkansas will return to Razorback Field on Sunday to play Stephen F. Austin, set for Sunday, Sept. 5 at 12 p.m. The match will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
