Oxley Nature Center galardona a Sasha Martin como artista residente en 2024

TULSA, OK – El Oxley Nature Center ha anunciado que la célebre autora y poetisa Sasha Martin será su artista residente en 2024, invitando al público a participar en sus innovadores e interactivos proyectos creativos dentro de los pintorescos senderos del centro.

Sasha Martin, cuyas conmovedoras memorias “Life from Scratch” fueron aclamadas por National Geographic y reconocidas por la revista People como “Best New Book” y “Book Club Pick”, traerá al Oxley Nature Center su singular mezcla de exploración literaria y natural. Conocida por su profunda exploración de la condición humana a través de la lente de la naturaleza, la residencia de Martin está preparada para ofrecer a los visitantes una experiencia profundamente inmersiva que tiende un puente entre el arte, el bienestar emocional y el mundo natural.

Durante su estancia en Oxley, Martin se embarcará en un viaje creativo para producir una serie de poemas visuales que resuenen con los principales deseos humanos de amor, pertenencia, integridad y armonía. “La naturaleza es el lugar al que acudo para entenderme a mí misma y al mundo, y la poesía es la forma en que doy voz a la curación y el asombro que tan a menudo se producen en el sendero”, afirma Sasha Martin. “Como artista residente del Oxley Nature Center, estoy deseando desarrollar una nueva serie poética extraída directamente del ecosistema único de Oxley, ya que está relacionada con nuestras necesidades emocionales primarias y nuestro bienestar mental, al tiempo que invito a los visitantes a que me acompañen en este viaje de autodescubrimiento a través de talleres mensuales.”

TULSA, OK – The Oxley Nature Center has announced the celebrated author and poet, Sasha Martin, as its 2024 Artist-in-Residence, inviting the public to engage with her innovative and interactive creative endeavors within the center’s picturesque trails.

Sasha Martin, whose poignant memoir “Life from Scratch” garnered acclaim from National Geographic and recognition in People Magazine as a “Best New Book” and “Book Club Pick,” will be bringing her unique blend of literary and natural exploration to the Oxley Nature Center. Known for her profound exploration of the human condition through the lens of nature, Martin’s residency is poised to offer visitors a deeply immersive experience that bridges the gap between art, emotional well-being, and the natural world.

During her tenure at Oxley, Martin is set to embark on a creative journey to produce a series of visual poems that resonate with the core human desires for love, belonging, wholeness, and harmony. These poems will be strategically placed along the nature center’s trails, creating an interactive experience that encourages visitors to forge a deeper connection with both the environment and their inner selves. This project will culminate in the creation of an art book, doubling as a trail guide, featuring ten original visual poems and designated spaces for hikers to pen their own reflections.

“Nature is where I go to understand myself and the world, and poetry is how I give voice to the healing and wonder that so often happens on the trail,” Sasha Martin said. “As Oxley Nature Center’s Artist-in-Residence, I look forward to developing a new poetry series drawn directly from Oxley’s unique ecosystem, as it relates to our primary emotional needs and mental wellness while inviting visitors to join me on this journey of self-discovery through monthly workshops.”

Visitors can look forward to engaging with Martin and her work firsthand, as her studio at the nature center will welcome the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through September 2024. Additionally, starting April, the center will host monthly artistic workshops suitable for a wide range of ages.
